I was playing around with ideas for new weapons in the mmo Wizard101 ... this is the winged jewel staff.
Winged Jewel Staff Animation: the wizard would place the staff in front of him/her and then let go. the staff would hover off the ground, and sparkling energy would twist around starting at the bottom jewel up to the top jewel and get brighter with magic sparks and mist at the top ... then the animation would cut the the enemy and the twisting energy would start at the ground around the enemy and sparks/mist would get brighter at top and shower down to damage the enemy.
